Smooth sailing from there? Well, not exactly. Despite public perception, major label status doesn't always propel you to the top. In most cases, the band brushes with mainstream success, but circumstance, mistakes, and label politics keep them from it. They get some minor hits, gain a following, but ultimately never make a huge mark. All while driving around in a junk van with a U-Haul and sleeping at Motel 6. - 5.0 out of 5 stars from Charles Fritzius -- Don’t even hesitate. Get this book! : I’ll start off by saying I’m not a writer. This is a non-writer’s review. I also don’t read a lot of non-fiction books. Because of my job, I read A LOT of technical manuals and books. That’s about all I read. I can probably count the number of non-fiction books I’ve read on two hands. Having said that, I am really glad I added this book to that small list. This was very worth it! - 5.0 out of 5 stars from David Seawell -- A great read. : This book will move you. It’s a great story well told. Yes this is about a rock band and and their circuitous journey to stardom and beyond. But it is so much more, due to Taylor’s skillful writing and his vulnerability. He literally brings you on the ride and let’s you in on the ups and downs and the intimate look into his family too. In dive bars, the Sunset Strip and NYC. Their music is essential to my life, and the memories relived in this book make me so happy. The music industry sucked it on letting this band get away. - 5.0 out of 5 stars from PParedero -- So much more than I expected… : As like many people my age, reading a book or watching a movie about a rock band has a certain allure. I was game to read this book about a band that I’ve enjoyed watching play live and as well as in the rotation of my CD collection. What I really didn’t expect was that I’d be occasionally drying my eyes during the read. Not only is this a great story of 4 extremely likable guys who take on the world of rock and roll, but it’s also an amazing story about love, family, friendship and discovering what is most important in life.
